BROOKLYN – Daniel Wendleck is one of a growing number of New Yorkers who keep beehives. In this video by Emily Siegel, he explained his passion and the beekeeper’s relationship with the bees.
Wendleck said bees respond to whatever mood a person gives off.
“If you’re scared, you’re frightened, you’re angry, like all of that is something that will disrupt – will probably cause you to be stung,” he said.
According to Wendleck, he’s not as much a beekeeper as a keeper of bees’ company.
“You don’t really keep the bees as much as you’re around them, so you develop a relationship to their different behaviors,” he said.
